Just browsing Craigslist looking for someone interested in trading for a '99 C230K, and I found this gem:
That's a 2000 Crown Vic with a Lightning 5.4L supercharged V8 backed by a Tremec TKO 5 speed. All of that for $12,000. Not bad, me thinks.
Also, gotta love the shifter linkages

It's no bargain, but it's no ripoff either.

Can't be making too much power if it's only got a single Walbro 255HP...

That's a Walbro 255LPH. As in Liters per hour. As in fuel delivery to the engine.
Not sure how much horsepower it can support, but I doubt you'd want to drive an engine on the street that needs more fuel than that.

That's kind of my thinking too. You couldn't get anywhere near that speed for $12k from anything newer, but it's also not cheap for a 2000 Crown Vic.

That's a shame, I've gotten some great deals on modified cars. I'm even driving a 88 Thunderbird with a 5 speed swap that someone else did. He did all the work, I only needed to fix a couple small things, and now I have a great 5.0 5 speed fox body that's not a Mustang.

Actually, that is the pump rating at 35 psi fuel pressure and 12.0V. At base pressure + boost pressure in this application, its flowing much less than that.
I've pushed a max of ~54lbs/min airflow @ 0.82 Lambda on E85 at 28psi boost (base fuel pressure 37psi, combined pressure 65psi) through a 255HP @ 14v, before having to get a bigger pump. Used the Walbro as lift pump in series with a Bosch 044 and was able to run 10psi more boost, supporting 67lbs/min. Several variables come into play here, but on E85.. 1lb/min airflow is good for ~9-12HP at the flywheel. Acceleration vs. weight figures backed this up. I'll let you do the math :)
Recently switched my cam/turbo combo and had to step up to a Magnafuel MP-4303 because the Walbro/Bosch setup couldn't hack it with a 71mm turbo on full boogie.

My Dad had an charcoal gray 88 T-Bird 5spd & every option. Because of him, as I kid I knew how to tell from the exhaust pipes if an 88 was an AT or MT.

Well, I can't argue with the numbers.
Though I would think that even a stock 5.4 Lightning motor would be a massive upgrade to the Panther. The Walbro is probably able to support the stock motor with stock or slightly upgraded boost, but once you get into adding cams and tunes for E85 (which requires more fuel flow), then you'd probably see the limit of what the pump could push.

Your dad had a Turbo Coupe?
As far as I could find, they never made a 5.0 with a 5 speed, they were all automatics. In fact, I think only the Turbo was available with a 5 speed. That's why I loved finding one with the swap done, it saved me from having to collect all the parts and transmission, that gets expensive and can clutter up your garage pretty easily.

Yeah, the Turbo. Should have been more specific.
My first car was almost(ALMOST) a 5.0 Cougar, but then Mr. Dumbass Car Salesman said the words "Mustang Engine" in front of my parents, and I ended up w/ an 84 Pontiac 6000.

Awww, that's a shame. Huge shame.
Especially because the 5.0 Cougar didn't have the Mustang's engine. It shared a block and displacement, but heads, cam, intake, exhaust, and ECU were all different. I know my '88 was rated at 155hp from the factory.
